The Flowing Hair dollar was the first dollar coin issued by the United States, minted in 1794 and 1795. To celebrate the 230th anniversary of this historic coin, the U.S. Mint has released a special recreation as a silver medal. The obverse and reverse designs have been meticulously recreated by modern medallic artists, replicating the original designs by Robert Scot, the U.S. Mint’s inaugural Chief Engraver.

This 2024 Flowing Hair 230th Anniversary Silver Medal has been certified and graded by NGC as MS70, ensuring its flawless condition. The coin's value and collectability is further enhanced by its Advance Releases designation, as well as the hand-signed signature of Ron Harrigal, the U.S. Mint's former Director of Design and Engraving. Harrigal, is known for his revolutionary designs, including implementing the privy mark seen on this medal, the 2021 "CC" and "O" Morgan Dollars and the V75 coins.

This medal is not only a celebration of American numismatic history but also a rare collector’s piece, further distinguished by Ron Harrigal’s signature, linking the rich past of the U.S. Mint to its present.
