2022 W Burnished Silver Eagle ER NGC MS70 Gaudioso Signed
This beautiful West Point Burnished American Silver Eagle was certified and graded by NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Corporation). The grade is PF70 (Proof 70 or Perfect 70) which means the coin is completely flawless. NGC is one of the highest respected and largest grading companies in the United States. Emily Damstra designed the new "Eagle Landing" Reverse and Michael Gaudioso sculpted the new reverse design. It depicts an eagle as it approaches a landing, carrying an oak branch, as if to add it to a nest.
What is a Burnished Silver Eagle?
Burnished Silver Eagle is struck from specially burnished planchets. Burnished coins have a matte finish and are not as shiny compared to a standard bullion coin finish. This is due to the specially polished coin blanks that are used to earn the “burnished” designation. The burnishing process was first introduced in 2006 by the U.S. Mint. They also burnish gold and platinum using the same process.

History of the American Silver Eagle
The American Silver Eagle is the official silver bullion coin of the United States first released November 24, 1986. American Silver eagles are only struck in the one-troy ounce size, which has a face value of one dollar and is guaranteed to contain one troy ounce of 99.9% pure silver. The Silver American Eagle coins were minted at the San Francisco Mint from 1986 – 1992. From 1993 – 2000 the coins were minted in the Philadelphia Mint. In 2001 the silver eagle production moved to West Point where the minting is still done today. Adolph A. Weinman designed the obverse known as The Walking Liberty which is still used today. John Mercanti designed the Heraldic Eagle Reverse from 1986-2021 until the U.S. Mint changed the design mid-2021. The new Eagle Landing Reverse is designed/engraved by Emily Damstra/Michael Gaudioso.
