American Gold Buffalo Series

First released in 2006, the American Gold Buffalo was the U.S. Mint’s inaugural 24-karat gold coin, struck in .9999 fine gold. This groundbreaking series was created to provide a high-purity alternative to the American Gold Eagle while honoring a classic piece of American coinage history. Instantly recognizable and widely respected, Gold Buffalos have become a favorite among collectors and investors seeking uncompromising quality and timeless design. Inspired by James Earle Fraser’s 1913 Buffalo Nickel, each coin celebrates America’s cultural heritage and artistic legacy. While the series traditionally features only the 1 oz coin, 2008 stands out as the only year the U.S. Mint issued fractional Gold Buffalos, making those editions particularly rare and collectible.
